Hyderabad Half Marathon 25th August 2019

Last Race: Chennai Skechers marathon 2019

The train journey to Hyderabad

Got a train from Yeswantpur at 11:40pm at night. The train came on the platform before 40 mins. We got the seat and ready for deep sleep. Got up fresh, super imagination and positive views from the train was superb lust green, the weather was a pleasant and cool breeze from train time is around 9:00am very positive sign in terms of whether we were 80km to reach Hyderabad. We reach the destination station by walking to the metro station.

Got the BIB with free shuttle

For about 2.4km walk got a metro station Malakpet to hi-tech city. I was very impressed by the city greenery from the metro train. There was a free shuttle to the BIB collection point.  We met some running buddies at the BIB center and also got bibs. After that had tasty biryani and move to a hotel
Race night preparation

My hotel was 1.3km from starting point "peoples plaza" But I wanted to check before exactly what is the route. The evening went for a walk to the starting point and I took some longer route more than 1.3km  and I reach the starting point, fortunately, got superfood banana. At the hotel did meditation and good sleep. All set for race day, early morning at 3 took a shower and got ready with a small bag and had hydration, milk coffee, one cookie and banana.
Race Day experience
Took a warm-up jog for 1.3km did stretching after that. Got entry at the gate then there was one more gate based on BIB number. But there was no wave just common start point for all and 5mins to go. Cheers fellow running on start got hi-fi support from my wife. I started slowly before I had some knee issues so I wanted to see first how it's going because all hills will be going to come. I met at 2km point my running friend they were doing the full marathon. Got cheer-up from them. I was going ok pace and felt I can maintain this pace. Got a U-turn with a bridge which was bit surprise I ran with high cadence and shorter distance equally there was downhill and crowd cheering helped, again high cadence and short stride length but distance covered was more and I was in control. likewise I manage to cover the distance with this hill technique and sometimes I got sub-5 pace 3 4 times which was a great surprise for me. I got medical spray at 16km. I was waiting for 17 to 20km mark because this will be the most difficult time for me in my head. But in that km range also I got 1 sub-5 and all sub-6 pace which was a surprise for me. After that at last I just thought to push myself. that last km. Sun was over my head but manage to run ok pace. I was just calling supporters to tell me how much more is left before it does felt never-ending route even watch was telling 21km. Finally that turn inside the stadium came and I push harder to reach the finish point. Able to clock 1:52:06 hrs time.

Race end
Got full weather experience like the start was drizzle, then good cool weather in between the only sun came but thanks to metro bridges we runner got shade. But in the end yes sun was right there to hit us. Well-hydrated from start. Had banana also in between which was a great help. Every 2km I had a skip of water or electoral. Finally, after the finish, I met running buddies, congratulate them. I did 1.7km cool-down run on the track. Volani booth helped stretching which was great I got some stretch and spray at most of the pain parts of the body. then, I did my usual stretches and had a good breakfast. Now headed to the luggage section, looking for a bag for 40 to 45mins and almost asking 20 volunteers with 4 km walk still helpless and came to the same place where we have been misleading that here your bags are not there go ahead and we went. Well, these experience of searching luggage bag was kind of experience we runner talk to other 1st cribbing then knowing each other and learning and getting inspired by one's effort. When we got the language bus then it took almost 40mins to find a bag because of mad-rush and bag were not found. Once I got bag me and runner friend again went inside the stadium took some good photos from his phone and share our number. Took some water bottle and left for the hotel. Now there is no free shuttle to the metro available as I was coming after 1.5 hrs in searching luggage bus and finding bags. But took a random bus met good running friends on the bus they help me to find the route to my hotel + had a good company about running talk and sharing details. After got down took an auto to the hotel.

Exploring Hyderabad
After checking out we had some time to return train. So we book VOGO and explore the city. I had biryanis and visited Ramkrishna matt which I wanted to visit as a wish. I meditate for some time and then drop a bike. took a walk for 1.4km hydrated well and got into train well on time, again the train was there before time.

Train talk + had a health issue
On the train I met one inspirational runner and also coach which use to train us. after sometime other runners also joined in chatting. It's a good time spent on learning and sharing experience. I got a bad cold because of the AC compartment and dust as outside I was on a bike. Even since morning 3am I got up for run but no-rest. So, I said sorry to all and went to my train seat had food somehow and slept. It took almost 4 5 days for me to recover from weakness and cold.

Freshworks Chennai Full Marathon 2025: A Race That Rebuilt My Confidence

The Freshworks Chennai Full Marathon on January 5th, 2025, with bib number 42495, was more than just another race for me—it was a pivotal moment in my running journey, restoring my confidence after a tough outing in Kolkata and preparing me for my first 50km Tata Ultra. Bouncing Back from Kolkata Leading up to Chennai, my last major race was a 25km event in Kolkata. At the 20km mark, I developed a niggle that turned into pain, forcing me to walk most of the final stretch. That experience left me questioning whether I could hold up beyond 20km—an essential benchmark for marathon and ultra training. Arriving in Chennai: Simple, Focused Preparation I arrived in Chennai from Bangalore the day before the marathon, checked into my hotel, and collected my bib. I kept my pre-race routine simple: light food, early bedtime, and a kit packed with dates and electrolytes. The start line was just 1.5km from my stay, so I jogged over as a warm-up, feeling the early morning energy of the city. R...

Pacing the 2:20 Bus at Tuffman Half Marathon

Bib Number: 21248 Race Date: 2nd February 2025 Event: Tuffman Half Marathon Pacer Goal: 2 Hours 20 Minutes This was my first time officially pacing a race, and what an unforgettable experience it turned out to be! To prepare for pacing the 2:20 bus, I did focused training. I ran two practice half marathons at an even 2:20 pace to internalize the rhythm and effort required. This wasn’t just physical prep—it was special because it trained me to run at a lower heart rate , a valuable skill that’s already helping with my main goal: finishing the Tata Ultra 50K strong. But this race wasn’t just about me. I encouraged three friends from my apartment to join as well—two signed up for the 5K and one bravely stepped into the half marathon distance. I even picked up their bibs and drove them to the race. It was such a unique experience to pull and push first-time runners toward the joy of running. Race Day At the start line, I stood alone with my pacer flag. But just before the gun went...

A Magical Weekend at Akshayakalpa Farm, Tiptur – A Journey into Organic Living

Just a three-hour drive and around 160 km from our home, tucked away in the peaceful green stretches of Tiptur, lies a gem of a place — Akshayakalpa Organic Farm . We had been planning a short weekend getaway, and this one-night, two-day trip turned out to be so much more than just a break from routine. It was an experience — wholesome, inspiring, and refreshing in every sense. Before the Visit: Thoughts & Expectations Before setting off, I had a few ideas in mind. I imagined fresh organic food, a serene countryside escape, and a chance to learn something new about sustainable farming. I expected to enjoy nature, perhaps interact with a few animals, and understand how organic dairy products are made. But what I got was far beyond expectations — it was immersive, educational, and joyful. From start to finish, it felt like a beautiful blend of eco-conscious living, learning, and community bonding. Day 1: Arrival & First Impressions We reached the farm around 10:45 am. Upon a...
