Airport Journey
Thursday, I started early morning around 2:30am for the airport to Mumbai. I reach the airport at 4:30am. Unfortunately, My loafers were slippery on the AirPort floor and I fell on my bump and hand so, I got hurt on my hand. I put an ointment & crepe band thanks to AirAsia. Wrist on continuously hurting So, I avoid using this hand for luggage.
Practice Run
I had imagined Worli to Nariman point in my head. A hand was hurting so, I felt not to run. Friday early morning I put ointment, had a banana, took a water bottle and started running slowly Somehow I manage to run-walk-crawl till Nariman point. It's almost 8KM it felt so satisfying/grace to sitting at Nariman point. But going back to work was a task I was feeling weak. I manage to push my-self till Girgaum Chawpatti. met a friend who did some running chat and with his help got a bus from Sukh-Sagar and reached Worli.
BIB collection journey
After the practice run, I was feeling to skip the BIB collection. But bcoz of some work need to be done + lot of support I manage to lift and go for BIB collection. Now I have to go from Worli to thane: I took a taxi because the bus was coming to Byculla then took a train to thane and then bus to forum mall for collecting BIB this travel took me 2.5 hours and return also took the same amount of time. I reach home late and very tired and in my mind, I confirmed It not possible to attend this run. Because of all practical reasons like the body is tired and travel makes almost impossible.
My mom and niece do a lot of massages while I was in half sleep and early morning like 3 am my wife woke me up. Then, I got great inspiration and the body also supported I got up and get ready for ran. I asked my mom and niece to join me for race and support. They even got up and got ready fast. I booked a Uber and surprisingly cab came and I reach the race location 1 hour before and I can’t imagine. I made it.
Race - 5K
I need to go slow for 5K even my coach command was going in my head that I have to go slow. But. based on experience If I go slow then I will be exhaust so, this dilemma of running slow and fast this fight was continuously going-on in my head. But I was warmed-up and Mumbai spirit and support helped me to push and run at a good pace. there was a hill road after 1.5km till 2.5km then we have to turn back to start location. I manage to clock 25:40 mins for 5km and my mom thought I will take more time to she was inside the mall to her surprise I told I already did 5km did immediately came out to cheer me. I got warm-up and stretched well for 10K which will start in 20mins i.e. 6:35am
The start will full josh despite some pain. I started a bit slow for 2 km even cheered and thanked supporters while running even hold the pacer flag for half a km. Then I started pacing but hill already started so, I was keeping the same effort to increase the cadence covering a short distance. It was an amazing hill. I came to this route for the first time. Complete dense forest and its a continuously drizzling, cool weather hill was steep high and effort were same but the distance covered become less till 5km it was continuous hill and forest. It was like a new country in a concrete city of thane. After U-turn from 5km point It was super exciting it was steep down. I can’t control my speed so I try running zig-zag it was hard to run in a zig-zag way but manage to control some speed. and then I reach a 2 km mark at a good pace. I got running buddy which was pacing well with me till 1.5km and then he left last 500 meters was ok pace manage to complete 10K in 59mins. Completing the race was very satisfying. I took the blessing of my mom. and there was so much after that race. I set at ICE-BED got so relieved then, applied spray-on pain area of the body. There were whey protein shots that had many shots to fill protein for repair. Did good stretching and had a simple Breakfast which was given.
Race End back home than to Bangalore
There was continuous rain. I booked a Uber and it came immediately. we sat for home. Within 40 to 50mins I reach home. Took some more food and rest for 1 to 2 hours and all set for the airport to Bangalore. Got some good food at the Airport also. I got a good flight back to Bangalore.
