Mumbai Marathon 2020 was my first marathon, and I completed the run in good time and headstrong. Being my first marathon, I was very excited. I did a lot of preparation, like 2 years, just when I thought I could do a marathon, and from then on, I slept every night with this dream of doing a marathon one day. Well, this was a very special D-day, seeing things that I had imagined for quite a long time and giving daily sweat to achieve them one day.
A marathon is very special because, while preparing for it, the process brings a man out of you. You become something more; you get so much support from the different directions that you can't articulate in your thoughts. Just when I go back in retrospect, I feel the grace and magic of the support. The process of marathon practise changes you from mind-level, body-level, and social-level, you have been upgraded to a new level.
Marathon night was special, but D-day was quite normal, starting with doing stretches and looking out for the starting line. Running from the starting line was an experience in a Mumbai street without vehicles, and being on just for the run was great. While running each kilometre was a very good experience, each kilometre gave me the impression of a new body state and mental state. There was so much support, like people cheering, food, water, electrolytes, fruits, medical, forms with water, etc., and the list just goes on. On 38 km, I got into a special state where my mind and body had given up, and something more had happened at that time, which made me run the next 4 km. I like to call that self-realization, which is more valuable than anything. I completed the dream and got the medal with blessings from my running coach, friends, family, and mom.
Like, it's so incredible to see my mom from early morning till I completed the race; she was just standing there somewhere and just waiting for me to complete the race, which was a real inspiration for me to complete the race. I can feel the connection while running, and she will be eagerly waiting, including my wife, who was headstrong from my training until race day. I think because of all the support, it is only possible to complete a big milestone.
Rest is history, shared, and a big shout out to everyone and the universe, which helped so much and gave such an awesome time.
Please comment if you connect with any moment and also any thoughts you would like to share. Thanks
